What’s to Love: No one can deny the cultural impact of Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts, and it has been a singular honor for us to be able to continue his legacy. In 2015, Peanuts celebrates its 65th anniversary, so we thought there was no better way to recognize Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the rest of the gang than to invite some of the world’s best-known names in comics, children’s books, comic strips, cartoons, and webcomics to come together and show their love for Schulz.

What It Is: Peanuts: A Tribute to Charles M. Schulz is a giant love letter from creators new and old from comic strips to webcomics, children’s books to comic books. Unprecedented at this scale, it is very rare for the Schulz estate to allow other cartoonists to illustrate the Peanuts gang in their own signature styles. This collection of original stories, pin-ups, and strips pay tribute to Schulz and the world of Peanuts, and includes contributions from Raina Telgemeier (Smile), Jen Wang (In Real Life), Patrick McDonnell (Mutts), Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo), Terry Moore (Rachel Rising), Mike Allred (Silver Surfer), Paul Pope (Battling Boy), and many more. Features an introduction by Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate).

What’s to Love: Jeremy Bastian’s intricate artwork is unlike anything in modern comics, and his first Cursed Pirate Girl graphic novel has garnered wide critical acclaim. Now he’s back to bring readers the next chapter of the Cursed Pirate Girl’s adventures in this oversized annual in the vein of Alice in Wonderland meets 19th-century political cartoons.

What It Is: The fiery Cursed Pirate Girl and the young Apollonia continue their search for the pirate girl’s father, one of the pirate captains of the dreaded Omerta Seas. This is the first annual installment of Volume 2 of Cursed Pirate Girl, with 54 pages of all-new story, including a gatefold insert.

Iscariot HC
Imprint: Archaia

Writer: S.M. Vidaurri
Artist: S.M. Vidaurri

What’s to Love: If you’ve read S.M. Vidaurri’s first original graphic novel Iron: Or the War After or his issue of Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Witches, you might understand when we say his watercolor stylings are hauntingly beautiful to look at—they have a soft gentleness to them, yet can convey the most stark of imagery. His new OGN has us completely mesmerized once again, invoking comparisons to Avatar: The Legend of Korra and the works of Hayao Miyazaki.

What It Is: When Carson, a young girl living with cancer, is bestowed with age-old magic by a rebellious sorcerer named Iscariot, she must navigate her new powers, face the life she had thought she left behind forever, and take on the order of magicians who want to control her destiny. Carson discovers that Iscariot’s intentions might not have been as altruistic as it first appeared, and learns the hard way that magic comes at a cost.

Lumberjanes: Beyond Bay Leaf Special #1

What’s to Love: It’s our first-ever Lumberjanes special and we could not be more excited to welcome writer Faith Erin Hicks (The Adventures of Superhero Girl) and newcomer artist Rosemary Valero-O’Connell to our growing Lumberteam. This self-contained story perfectly captures the spirit of what the Lumberjanes are: hardcore lady-types who can fend for themselves, but also quick to help those who are in need!

What It Is: In this special one-shot issue, Jen takes the girls out at night to go stargazing, but Ripley wanders off when she sees a ghost pony! Now April, Jo, Molly, and Mal have to rely on the strange woman Sola to find their friend and earn their Beyond Bay Leaf pin!
