Buffy Season 8 Library Edition Vol. 1

What happens to Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles and the rest of the scoobies after the events that unfolded in the finale of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” television series?

The show was important to a lot of people, and made a pretty influential change and impact on the way television is made and stories told so ater the Hellmouth caves in and Sunnydale is gone where does that put our quippy slayer and her crew?
Enter the creative team of Joss Whedon, Brian K Vaughn, Paul Lee, Cliff Richards and Georges Jeanty.

Buffy: Season 8 is a direct continuation of the television series with full assurance that these events are both true to form and canonical. Joss Whedon took his slayer off the air and into the pages of a beautifully illustrated comic series produced by Dark Horse Comics. The series lasted for 8 amazing volumes and is now being collected into these beautiful Library editions.

The writing on Buffy Season 8 was amazing, it really did feel like a true extension of the television series. The characters are recognizable, true to form, and just as enjoyable as they were on television. It is easy to see that Joss Whedon has kept a close watch on these characters he cares so much about which has allowed for the story of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” to make an almost seamless movement from one medium to another. Working on script, Whedon and Brian K. Vaughn have kept the story engaging, fresh and easy to get lost into.

Perfectly capturing the look and feel of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is the art team, Georges Jeanty, Cliff Richards and Jo Chen paired with the beautiful colors of Dave Stewart. This team has made each character easily recognizable while staying true to the classic form of comic art. My favorite artist on Buffy is Jeanty, I love the way he understands each character through their expression and movement. The art does compliment the story and seems perfectly suited for this extension of the series.

Within this collection you get the first eight issues of season 8 and two one shots, along with the addition of a cover gallery, biographies of the creators, and my favorite addition, a sketchbook. There is an incredible amount of content within each section making this to be the definitive edition of Buffy: Season 8. The covers are beautiful, and insight into Jeanty’s method through the sketchbook is amazing. With the amount of content and quality of the story and art this is the definitive edition of Buffy Season 8. Any fan of the television series should be proud to hold this in their collection.
