First Wonder Woman Reviews Are Great

Many people were worried about the upcoming Wonder Woman film, given the poor reception of the last few DC movies.  Well, there is no need to worry, because critics are absolutely loving this one.  It is currently sitting at a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, the most popular review aggregate site for films.  To be clear, this doesn't mean that the film is a "96 out of 100" using some rubric the site came up with; this means that 96% of critics taken into account so far have given it positive scores.  The average rating of the movie right now is a 7.8 out of 10, with 55 critics reporting.

The box office predictions for this movie are all over the place, with some sources coming in at $65 million opening weekend and others saying $100 million (roughly what Man of Steel brought in).  With all the positive buzz now surrounding the movie, that $100 million mark is looking closer to the truth. That being said, we might get to see some more female led superhero films once studios begin to feel more confident in their success.  This will be the first major female led superhero movie since Elektra in 2005 and the first one DC has attempted since Catwoman in 2004.

While this may be great news for many of you out there, I do want to take a minute to stress that the Rotten Tomatoes score might not reflect what you will think about the film.  It's essentially a big poll of critics, many of whom might think differently than you do.  So watch some trailers, find a critic or two that you trust, and make an informed opinion from there.  Here's to hoping that those of you going to see it this weekend love it as much as everyone else!
