Joss Whedon Directing Batgirl Movie

So a report has come in from Variety that Joss Whedon is set to direct and write a standalone Batgirl movie.  If you don't know who Joss Whedon is, he is the guy responsible for such classics as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly.  He also directed some indie films, such as The Avengers and The Avengers: Age of Ultron.  No word just yet as to a release date or casting for Batgirl, but we do know that Toby Emmerich (President of Warner Bros. Picture Group), Jon Berg (producer on various other DC film projects) and Geoff Johns (legendary comic writer and Chief Creative Officer for DC Comics) are all attached to help produce the film.

This movie will be Joss Whedon's first venture with DC, having just come off of a long stint with Disney and Marvel.  With DC's current films still struggling to find an audience, Joss Whedon might just be the fresh voice that turn things around. He's done some amazing things during his time at Marvel, the Avengers and Age of Ultron are still the 5th and 7th highest grossing films of all time respectively, so I think DC is in good hands.  Keep an eye on our site for more updates as they come out.

What do you guys think? Fan of Whedon? Looking forward to a Batgirl movie? Let us know!
