X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants Pushed Back

Confirmed by Collider.comX-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants have both been pushed back to 2019. While you might be saying that this has to do with the potential Disney/Fox buy-out (which still needs to be confirmed) it appears that it was just random circumstance that happened to cause both of the big comic book movies for Fox to be pushed back so far.

Dark Phoenix is being moved from November of this year to February 14, 2019. It appears that this is more to do with reshoots and finding a schdule that best fits the various actors involved. Being that it was only a difference of a few months, this shouldn't be much cause for concern, as things like this are bound to happen when films are announced years in advance. It's also possible an executive at Fox was trying to set up a fun date for Valentine's Day, but there's nothing to confirm that.

The New Mutants is being moved from February 22 (yes, it was initially supposed to be out now) to August 2, 2019. Apparently, Fox wanted more reshoots to make the film scarier. The reason being that they want this New Mutants series to stand separate from the rest of the X-men films the way Deadpool and Logan do. To accomplish this, they are basically scrapping a good chunk of the movie to make things more coherent, rather than shoving scenes in haphazardly and creating a strange tonal shift throughout the movie. Whether or not this means trouble for the movie remains to be seen, but it's certainly a gutsy call by Fox.

So what do you guys think? Still looking forward to these two movies? New schedule fit in better with your movie plans this year? Let us know!
